Costa Rica Map
Costa Rica is a small country but a great destination for the visitor. It has a Greater Metropolitan Area (GAM) that includes Heredia, Alajuela, Cartago and San José. In addition, a coastal area that includes Limon, Guanacaste, and Puntarenas. Costa Rica map is located in Central America with an area of 51,100 square kilometers and a population of 5,000,000 inhabitants. In the center of the country is the Central Valley, where most of the population lives. The country has about 200 volcanoes, of which 5 are active. The Cocos Island in the Pacific Ocean is part of the national territory.
It has a diversity of flora and fauna of the highest in the world. Its isthmic position allowed the migration of species between North and South America. Thus the new marine strip began a process of diversification between the species of both seas. Due to its geographical position, the country is exposed almost all the year to the trade winds of the northwest that come from the Caribbean and arrive loaded with humidity. The highest volcano in the country is the Irazú volcano (3,431 m) and the largest lake is Arenal Lake. There are 14 known volcanoes throughout the country, and six of them have been active in the last 75 years.
The map of Costa Rica also comprises several islands. The island of Coco stands out due to its remoteness from the continent, four hundred and eighty kilometers. Calero Island, with 151.6 km2, is the largest island in the country. Costa Rica Map has the highest density of species worldwide.

Natural Threats: Due to its location between two tectonic plates, the country is prone to constant quakes and occasional earthquakes.
In times of hurricanes, the Atlantic area is most affected by constant landslides and floods.
Active volcanoes (Arenal, Poás, Turrialba, Irazú, Rincón de la Vieja).
In addition, it was the first nation in the world that abolished the army, in the year 1948. So you will not find any soldier in all the Costa Rica map.
